Choose Paper Food Cartons
At a2 Milk®, we want to make it easier for everyone to make choices that are best for our planet. That's why we use paper cartons made from sustainable, recyclable materials. Next time you open a milk carton to prepare breakfast, think about this:
That carton is 94 percent milk and just 6 percent packaging, making them one of the most sustainable package-types on the market today.
Recyclable cartons hold more than milk. Choose soup, broths, wine, juice, water and cream in paper cartons.
Carton recycling is available in 82 percent of the Top 100 U.S. Markets in 49 states. That's over 72 million households!
How to Recycle Your Cartons
Adding paper-based cartons to your recycle bin is simple. After you've finished the food or beverage inside, give the carton a rinse with hot water. Drain any remaining liquid and toss it in the recycle bin.
Check with your community to see if paper cartons can be left as-is or if they should be crushed. Some cities also request for plastic caps to be removed (and recycled too!). Then, place the recycling container outside for pick-up on your designated day or drop off your recyclables at a local recycling center.
Those cartons live on in so many ways! After they've been sent to the recycling center, they're sorted and sent to paper mills and manufacturing companies that create building materials. According to the Carton Council, 30 milk cartons can be transformed into a 2'x2' ceiling tile!
We care as much about this beautiful planet as you do. Challenge yourself to evaluate each item that you place in the trash bin. Can it be recycled?
