3 Easy Milk Face Masks You Can Make at Home

Posted on September 4, 2018

It’s time to indulge in a little self-care. Draw a warm bubble bath, pour a glass of chilled wine, cue up some soothing music, and relax with one of these milk face mask recipes. Yes, milk is good for you on the outside too!

Milk Nourishes the Skin

Did you know milk can soften skin and help deep clean your pores?  A recent study published in the NCBI found that fermented milk might help to prevent skin dryness. The results showed that subjects’ phenol levels decreased while the hydration of the outer layer of the skin increased. So not only did their skin become more hydrated, but they saw improved clearness of skin in healthy adult women.

Additionally, milk contains a number of vitamins and minerals which can benefit not just your overall health, but provide beauty benefits too! Calcium and potassium help to heal and moisturize dry skin, while Vitamin A functions as an antioxidant and helps to reduce wrinkles. Vitamin C  has been shown to reverse signs of hyperpigmentation, while Vitamin D helps to fight infection.

So next time you buy groceries, grab an extra carton of a2 Milk®  to cover you for all the new at-home beauty treatments you’ll be doing soon!

3 Easy Milk Face Mask Recipes

Putting together a creamy mask takes just a few minutes and most of the ingredients are probably already tucked away in your pantry or refrigerator. Let’s get started!

Milk and Honey Face Mask

If you have acne-prone skin or blackheads that pop up randomly, this combination of milk and honey will help cleanse your face. Honey is a natural antibacterial which helps whisk away skin-irritating bacteria and dirt.

You’ll need a blender to thoroughly combine the ingredients for this mask. Once the mixture is ready, refrigerate it for 15 minutes. Then, apply the cooling mask with your fingers and allow it to soothe the skin for 30 minutes. Rinse with clear water and pat your face dry with a towel. This recipe makes two masks, so you can save one in the refrigerator for the next day or share with a family member.

Milk and Oatmeal Face Mask

Swap out your usual exfoliating routine for this simple mask. All you’ll need is a bowl and spoon to mix together the three common ingredients: oatmeal, milk, and cinnamon. Oatmeal soothes tired, dry skin that’s had a bit too much summer sun.

Massage the oatmeal-milk mixture with your fingertips onto your forehead, cheeks, and neck. Let the mask absorb for 20 minutes, then rinse with clear, cool water and pat dry with a soft towel.

Honey, Egg White, and Milk Mask

This Honey, Egg White, and Milk Peel-Off Mask will leave your skin blemish-free and moisturized. The gelatin in the face mask makes it easy to remove, leaving your face feeling clean and radiant.

After the ingredients are combined, smooth the mixture over clean skin using a brush and let it dry for 10 to 15 minutes. Carefully peel off the mask, rinse your face with cool water, and pat your refreshed skin with a dry towel to remove any lingering water.
