Who says you need to eat meat to get adequate protein? On the contrary, there are countless foods that can give your body the protein it needs to survive and thrive.

While all beans are a good source of protein, black beans are one of the healthiest legumes you can eat. Quinoa is one of the only grains that is a complete protein, containing all the essential amino acids. With about 8 grams of protein per cooked cup (220 calories), it’s a low-calorie, high-fiber food that is versatile in cooking.
Dairy milk is another powerful source of protein with 8 grams per cup (about 160 calories) and eight essential nutrients: calcium, potassium, phosphorous, riboflavin, niacin, and vitamins A, D, and B12. Generally, fruits don’t contain much protein, but if you’re looking for one that stands out, choose delicious guava. With a little over 4 grams of protein per cup, guavas can be a healthy dessert or snack.
