What is a2 Protein Certified®?

a2 Milk® technology is associated with a suite of patents and patent applications in a number of countries, including the U.S. These patents and patent applications relate to the testing, breeding and herd formation of animals used for the production of milk with levels of the protein A2 beta-casein naturally maximized, at the exclusion of A1 beta-casein.
Once tested, cows having the traits for the production of milk containing only the A2 type of beta casein and not the A1 variant are segregated for use in a2 Milk® production. Their milk is obtained and processed separately to ensure the unique, premium quality of a2 Milk®.
